Self-operated

You are the operator

With QuickTribe you don't rent a service – you run your own platform. That means full control, and the responsibility that comes with it.

We deliver software, source code and documentation. You run it yourself or use a service provider of your choice.

Your tasks as operator

  • Provide server, domain and TLS certificate
  • Install updates – new image tag, migrations run automatically
  • Back up database and uploads
  • Set up email delivery (SMTP) and, if needed, a Stripe account
  • Review legal texts and act as provider towards your members
  • Data protection responsibility for your members' data
Requirements

What your server needs

These guideline values come from load tests with realistic usage. “Concurrently active” means people clicking right now – a community with 500 members typically has 20 to 50 of them.

Server
Linux with Docker Engine ≥ 24 and Docker Compose v2
Start
2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM for up to 50 concurrently active users
Growth
4 vCPU / 8 GB up to 200, 8 vCPU / 16 GB up to 1,000 concurrently active users
Videos
4 vCPU recommended if you upload and transcode your own course videos
Network
Domain with TLS via a reverse proxy (e.g. Traefik, Nginx, Caddy)
Email
SMTP access with SPF, DKIM and DMARC for the sending domain
Optional
S3-compatible storage, Stripe account for payments, Google sign-in
Installation & updates

Three ways onto your server

Docker Compose

Unpack the package, fill in .env, run docker compose up -d. Works on any Linux server with Docker.

Portainer

Create a stack in the web editor, enter the variables, deploy. Traefik labels are prepared.

Coolify

For VPS offers with Coolify, e.g. at Hostinger – described step by step in the manual.

Updates without manual database work

New version = new image tag. On start, an init container runs the database migrations automatically. A built-in self-check (app:doctor) then verifies secrets, database, Redis, storage, mail delivery and Stripe.
